Part 13. Nothing foreshadowed thunderstorm

They met about six months ago. Almost every day, when Irene didn’t fly away anywhere, they would hang out somewhere with him spending his money wastefully. Irene was a bit confused at first. A little later, she perceived squandering as a trait of this man she liked and who did not want to part with her. With some kind of plea, she looked into his eyes, not knowing about it herself! No, no, she was not mercantile. She wanted to become his wife because she loved him in her understanding. Without him, she was bad, with him - well. Hans did not think about whether he loved her. He could do without her. But he had a great time with her.

That is enough for a sophomore! Yes, he still needs the opinion of his friends about him as a normal guy!

Insecure, Hans was flattered:  the long-legged beauty Irene, who had already entered the country's sports history, captain of the national team of the university in basketball, did not reject him. The completely crazy combination of her blond long hair with their structure - small curls - amazed his imagination. In addition, Irene’s skin, as smooth as silk, completed the portrait of a girl of unearthly beauty.

Irene admitted that she herself wanted to communicate with Hans, but did not approach him as the first!

She found reliability and humanity in this young man with a sweetly bulging ears and house-shaped eyebrows. With this guy she would stride in life without fear! Hans was the first guy with whom Irene, at 19, spoke in an adult way. Hans long sought to find a girlfriend; but not any, but a friend with whom student life would not be boring, and holidays more meaningful.

All his friends came to parties with girls, and he... Rumors about him had already begun to form. In short, Hans set out to find a mate. They met, hitting (as they thought) by chance in one student company.

Irene is well educated, broad-minded, and modern. Her parents are not scientists, like Hans's parents. Her mother is an immigrant from a small European country. Very young, barely 18, she married her father Irene. Her grandfather was African American, and her grandmother was French. By the way, the grandfather is a famous basketball player of his time. Obviously, the genes worked in Irene. So, her parents got married when they worked together in a private factory. Then they studied together. Now they have their own mini-plant.

Irene and Hans danced the same dances, read the same books, listened to the same music. Even their culinary tastes were the same! Hans was talking about getting together; truth to say, not showing particular determination.

Irene believed that she was about to... and waited patiently. Nothing foreshadowed thunderstorm.

But it was time for thunderstorms, and thunder struck.
