Tell us about your job.

I am a sociologist with an experience in the sphere of marketing, social services and NGO. However, after several years in the marketing sector, I understood that I don’t want to invest anymore time in the corporate world. I was dreaming of more freedom, inspiration and creativity. I was in a search of my purpose in this chaotic life, after understanding that the money won’t make me happy. That’s when I met my husband who helped me to find what I was missing. I yearned for my own bit of Earth and for a sense of belonging. After years of feeling unrooted, constantly moving from place to place, we decided to go back to live in Varvara, a small, beautiful village on the Black Sea coast. That’s where we are on the way to create a big livestock farm (at the moment we are raising goats and chickens) and flourish garden. And in the meanwhile I started a specialization for a philosophy teacher.

What emotion does your work give you?
Working with animals you hold the life itself in your hands. You help them to born, provide shelter and food, and the most important – love and care. So I receive a lot of love in return and each day brings me awe, wonder and gratitude. When I plant seeds and then care for my plants, their growth, beauty, and food enrich me. By knowing a garden well, you form a relationship with commitment and familiarity. This is a home, that is essential for re-rooting to place and your own thriving.

Office in the city center or in a calm forest (outside the city)?
The forest allows you to clear your mind and stay focused. Additionally, it is a source of inspiration, so I would definitely choose the forest for my office.

If you had additional work, what would you choose?
I would choose to be a philosophy teacher.

How do you understand the word “teaching”?
For me teaching is one of the noblest professions, giving you a chance to inspire and to get inspired at the same time, to teach and to learn, to be a channel of wisdom and knowledge.

Learning …
Studying different opinions is like studying different worlds. You can see that basing on their opinions, people form groups with similar lifestyle and decisions. Some opinions are the result of our particular perspective of the place where are in life, so not every opinion could emerge from every place. Finally, some opinions are just a matter of current emotions and feelings. So the first step in studying different opinions is trying to understand where this opinion is rooted – in the lifestyle, in the social background or in the emotions.

The movie that caused many emotions.
Dead Poets Society – a movie about one extraordinary teacher who inspired his students to live lives full of passion and purpose.

What is the most useful emotion in your life?
Awareness as it keeps me mindful of my tasks and goals.

Whose advice do you listen to?
I always listen to the advice of my wise husband. He usually has a very good understanding of my situation and tries to help me with a good advice and support whenever I need.

Will the role of women increase in sport in the near future?
Women became as competitive as men, and even more. The same is in the sport. The participation of women and girls in sport challenges gender stereotypes and discrimination, and can therefore be a vehicle to promote gender equality and the empowerment of women.

What is the main advantage of tolerance?

The main advantage of tolerance is that through mutual understanding and respect between each other, we can live in a more harmonious and peaceful communities. A strong society is formed through strong communities. Discrimination, which is the opposite of tolerance, is just a waste of energy and potential.
